Best live-in care agencies in Watford (CQC-checked, October 2026)

Key Takeaways
This is a scored list of live-in care agencies covering Watford, CQC-checked on 27 October 2026. Outstanding beats Good, inspections older than four years lose 15 points, and a website-checked published price or live-in offer adds 5 each. Live-in is not a CQC specialism, so that bonus is zero. We run Match With Care. We are not CQC-registered as a care provider, so we sit in a labelled box outside this list. Method: how we rank agencies.
Unique Senior Care's own Hertfordshire comparison (checked September 2026) puts Unique first, and says Abbots Care has "no clear current price published". That is their table. This page scores CQC locations on one method and shows the drawbacks.
Age UK (updated 18 February 2026) still points families at registered homecare agencies, or at arranging a private carer themselves. If savings sit above £23,250, Age UK says the council will not help with care costs. The NHS puts help at home from a paid carer at about £15 to £30 an hour, and is plain that you might need a live-in carer. Age UK's cost page (updated 19 August 2026) puts privately arranged care at home around £25 an hour, and a residential care home around £1,100 a week. Attendance Allowance is still £76.70 a week, or £114.60 if help is needed through both day and night.
After a discharge from Watford General, a family in Cassiobury can open Unique's Hertfordshire page and see £265 a day. Helping Hands already printed £1,675 a week. Multiply the daily figure before you call either of them the cheaper option.
How we scored these live-in care agencies
The CQC (updated 1 July 2025) registers people who carry on regulated activity. Homecare agencies that provide personal care have to be on that register. Introductory platforms do not, which is why Elder, Curam and Care.com UK are not in this table.
Each location starts at 100 for Outstanding, 60 for Good, or 20 for Requires improvement. An inspection older than four years, or missing, loses 15. A listed live-in specialism would add 10; none of these CQC pages had one. A website-checked published hourly or weekly from-price adds 5. A website-checked live-in offer adds 5. Ties break on the more recent inspection, then the name. Full rules: agency ranking methodology. Pages opened for this round are named under each agency. Checked 27 October 2026.
We also opened Cera's live-in page and the Cera Care Operations services list. Mears Care - Hertfordshire, at Cottonmill Lane, St Albans, is archived. There is no live Hertfordshire CQC location in the set we opened, so Cera sits outside this table. Elder is an introductory platform, not a CQC agency.
Consultus's Hertfordshire live-in page names Bushey, Borehamwood, Rickmansworth and Abbots Langley, not Watford. We still scored the Tonbridge location because the page claims the whole county.

Checked 27 October 2026. Scores follow how we rank agencies. Match With Care is not in this table.
1. Trinity Homecare (Worcester Park) · 110
Why it ranks here. CQC location 1-1864053896 at 1-15 Central Road, Worcester Park, is Outstanding, report published 9 October 2025, after an assessment from 11 to 27 August 2025. Dementia is listed. The inspector's report says the service provides visiting and live-in care, and was supporting 246 people with personal care. The live-in page (reviewed 19 October 2026) publishes live-in from £1,694 a week for lower support needs. The Watford coverage page names live-in around Watford, including Nascot Wood, Cassiobury and Oxhey.
Where it falls short. The registered office is in Worcester Park, not Watford. The from-price is a national starting figure, not a Watford quote.

2. Abbots Care Limited (Hertfordshire) · 105
Why it ranks here. CQC location 1-110156405 at Phoenix House, 63 Campfield Road, St Albans, is Outstanding, report published 16 October 2025, after an assessment from 4 June to 20 August 2025. Dementia is listed. The inspector's report says 871 people were receiving personal care. The Hertfordshire live-in page names Watford among the towns it serves. The Watford home care page lists live-in care as a local service. This is the only Outstanding location in the set that is actually registered in Hertfordshire.
Where it falls short. No from-price on the pages we opened. Unique's comparison says the same. Third-party directories quoting about £1,200 a week are not a figure Abbots printed, so we did not score it. The CQC report does not say how many of the 871 people were on live-in.

3. Unique Senior Care · 95
Why it ranks here. Unique Care on comparison pages is Unique Senior Care in the CQC register. CQC location 1-7601685405 in Knowle, Solihull, is Outstanding, report published 27 August 2021. Dementia is listed. The Hertfordshire live-in page (updated 13 October 2026) names Watford, Bushey and Watford General, and publishes live-in from £265 a day for one person, or £330 a day for a couple. The costs page (updated 7 October 2026) restates £1,855 a week for one person.
Where it falls short. The inspection is more than four years old, so it loses 15 points. The registered office is in Solihull. Unique's own comparison still lists Unique first. Trinity and Abbots sit above it here because the inspections are newer.

4. The Good Care Group · 95
Why it ranks here. CQC location 1-1489174477 at Portsoken House, Minories, is Outstanding, report published 12 April 2019. Dementia is listed. CQC last reviewed the information on 6 July 2023 and did not reassess. The Watford live-in page describes live-in across Watford, including St Albans, Hemel Hempstead and Rickmansworth. The national live-in page publishes live-in from £256 a day. The Watford page restates a Trustpilot average of 4.7 from 189 reviews as of August 2025.
Where it falls short. The inspection is more than four years old. Unique's 2021 report is newer, so Unique takes the 95 tie. The costs page timed out on 27 October 2026; the from-price is the figure on the live-in page we did fetch.

5. Right at Home Borehamwood & Watford · 90
Why it ranks here. CQC location 1-6543508641 at 140 Aycliffe Road, Borehamwood, is Outstanding, report published 9 July 2021, after visits on 12 and 24 May 2021. Dementia is listed. Nineteen people were receiving personal care. CQC last reviewed the information on 6 July 2023 and did not reassess. The local live-in page describes a carer living in the home and names Watford, Cassiobury Park and Watford Palace Theatre.
Where it falls short. The inspection is more than four years old. The same FAQ says costs depend on the level of care and asks you to request a quote. No from-price, so the price bonus is zero.

6. Helping Hands Watford · 55
Why it ranks here. CQC location 1-6098139195 at 20 Market Street is Good, report published 31 December 2019. Dementia is listed. Six people were receiving personal care. CQC last reviewed the information on 6 July 2023 and did not reassess. The Watford live-in page publishes live-in at £1,675 a week for one person, or £2,125 for a couple.
Where it falls short. The rating is Good, so it starts 40 points behind Outstanding, and the inspection is more than four years old. Six people in 2019 is a thin snapshot if you are hiring for 2026.

7. Consultus Care and Nursing · 55
Why it ranks here. CQC location 1-120788654 at 4 London Road, Tonbridge, is Good, report published 20 February 2019. Dementia is listed. Seventeen people received live-in nursing or personal care across England and Wales. The costs page publishes managed live-in from £1,603 a week, and introductory live-in from £1,092 a week. We scored the managed figure, because that is the CQC-regulated arm.
Where it falls short. The inspection is more than four years old. Watford is not on the named town list. Introductory care from £1,092 is not CQC-regulated. Helping Hands takes the 55 tie on inspection date.

Yes. This list only scores CQC-registered homecare locations with a published Outstanding, Good or Requires improvement rating. Introductory platforms such as Elder, Curam and Match With Care are a different model and sit outside this table.
No. We run Match With Care. We are an introductory care marketplace, not CQC-registered as a care provider, so we are not scored in this agency list. The labelled box below the ranking explains the different model and links to home care platforms.
