We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to provide visiting care for a client (approximately 76 years old) based in Westminster, London (W2). This is a daytime role covering 3–5 days per week, with shifts running from 8:00am to 6:00pm. Any additional time worked beyond the agreed hours is compensated in 30-minute increments. The total weekly hours range from 30 to 50 hours depending on the number of days worked.
About the Role
The successful candidate will deliver professional nursing to a client with a number of health conditions. This is a hands-on clinical role requiring strong medical knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and a compassionate, patient-centred approach.
Client's Care Needs
The client has the following diagnosed conditions and care requirements:
- Type 2 Diabetes – The client is currently on NovoRapid (insulin aspart) insulin. The nurse must have solid, demonstrable experience in blood glucose monitoring, insulin administration, and the management of hypo- and hyperglycaemic episodes.
- Hypertension – Ongoing monitoring of blood pressure and awareness of associated risks is required.
- Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and Gastroparesis (Gastric Delay) – The client has gastrointestinal conditions requiring careful dietary and symptom monitoring.
- Linaclotide (recently commenced) – The client is newly starting Linaclotide. Candidates must be familiar with this medication and its known side effects, in particular the risk of severe diarrhoea, and be prepared to monitor and respond appropriately.
- Medication Support – The nurse will be responsible for medication administration, adherence monitoring, and accurate record-keeping.
Requirements
- Active registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) with the NMC (or equivalent recognised body) — this is a strict requirement
- Proven experience in diabetes management, specifically insulin therapy and blood glucose control
- Experience with or knowledge of Linaclotide and gastrointestinal conditions
- Confident in medication administration and clinical documentation
- Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to a consistent weekly schedule
- Compassionate, professional, and able to build rapport with the client and their family
