Part-time live-out dementia carer in Empingham, Rutland.

Rutland, East Midlands

£17 to £19 per hour12 hours per week

Job Description

We are looking for a reliable and compassionate female carer to provide visiting care for an elderly client living in the Rutland area. This role is needed to start straight away.

The primary care recipient is an 80-year-old lady living with dementia. Her husband also resides in the home and has failing eyesight and limited mobility, so a general awareness of his needs is appreciated, though the focus of the role is on his wife's care.

The schedule is 2 hours per day, 6 days per week (12 hours per week total), with visits ideally taking place in the morning from approximately 9:30am to 11:30am.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Medication reminders and prompting
  • Light housekeeping and laundry
  • Meal preparation
  • Personal care assistance
  • Taking the client out for walks
  • General welfare checks and monitoring

This is a practical, task-focused role. The client is not particularly sociable, so the emphasis is on providing hands-on support and ensuring daily routines are maintained rather than companionship or conversation. The ideal carer will be efficient, respectful of the client's preferences, and comfortable working independently.

This is a self-funded position. As the client's needs are expected to progress over time, there is the potential for hours and responsibilities to increase in the future, making this a great opportunity for a carer looking for a role that could grow into a longer-term arrangement.
